1. LEGO officially confirms Dragon Ball

The biggest news of the week: on September 22, LEGO confirmed its collaboration with Dragon Ball in a short teaser. It shows the seven Dragon Balls alongside the Dragon Ball and LEGO logos, followed by the “Adults Welcome” message. LEGO has not yet announced specific sets, prices or release dates, so details circulating through the rumour mill remain unconfirmed.

2. LEGO Astro Bot 40899 officially revealed

Set 40899 Astro Bot gives the PlayStation character its own 276-piece LEGO model. The figure features movable arms and head, interchangeable eyes, blue jet effects and a display stand. LEGO now officially lists the model; specialist media expect it around the launch of the LEGO PlayStation set in early October as a promotional gift, although exact promotional conditions may vary by region.

3. Paradisa returns through LEGO Ideas

LEGO Ideas has announced the winners of its Paradisa challenge. The fan competition revisits the colourful Paradisa style of the 1990s and shows how the theme can be reinterpreted with modern building techniques. One of LEGO’s most distinctive classic leisure themes has therefore made a visible comeback, at least within LEGO Ideas.

4. Final BrickLink Designer Program Series 10 designs revealed

This week brought a first look at the finalised models for BrickLink Designer Program Series 10. The selected fan designs have now moved another step closer to crowdfunding and production. For collectors, the changes made between the original submissions and the final official designs are particularly interesting.

5. Patent dispute involving LEGO SMART Play

A patent company has filed a lawsuit against LEGO in connection with SMART Play technology. The case concerns the technical foundations of the interactive system using electronic components. It is far too early to draw conclusions about the outcome, but the dispute is now public and ranks among the week’s most significant LEGO business stories.

6. Wallace & Gromit launch gets a special LEGO promotion

Ahead of the October 1 launch of LEGO Ideas 21371 Wallace & Gromit, LEGO is supporting the release with an unusual fan event: a LEGO Store will open early specifically for dog owners as part of the promotion. The set contains 1,038 pieces and recreates Wallace and Gromit on their retro motorcycle and sidecar.

7. LEGO comments on the share of licensed products

LEGO stressed this week that despite the high visibility of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, Nintendo and other licences, licensed products account for less than half of its sales. In-house themes and classic LEGO product lines therefore remain a central part of the company’s business.

8. LEGO Ideas: five more projects reach the review stage

The third LEGO Ideas review round of 2026 continues to grow, with five more fan designs reaching the required 10,000 supporters and entering official review. LEGO will decide which, if any, become official sets only after the full review round has closed and been assessed.

9. Andy Murray builds the new LEGO Icons Road Bike

LEGO has enlisted tennis champion Andy Murray for a campaign around the LEGO Icons Road Bike 11380. A newly released video shows Murray building the model himself. The collaboration demonstrates how LEGO is increasingly promoting adult-focused models with well-known personalities beyond traditional LEGO channels.

10. Shrek minifigures appear ahead of the regular launch

The new LEGO Minifigures 71053 Shrek series has already been spotted in Australia ahead of its regular launch. Particularly useful for collectors, the scannable codes familiar from previous series are back, potentially making it easier to identify characters without opening the boxes.
